Hearing Loss

Hearing loss can be complete or partial inability to hear. It can happen in one or both ears. In children, hearing loss is associated with delayed language development and lower performance at school. Ageing, genetics, exposure to noise, some infections, trauma to the ear and birth complications are some factors associated with hearing loss.

There’s no cure for hearing loss, which is why scientists are exploring stem cells therapies as a way to regenerate cells linked to hearing loss.
